Finally it is here, after a lot of ruckus and one week filled with guesses, gossip and speculations, the latest TF2-Update has finally gone live. The following aspects have not been announced until now:

War-results => The Gunboats for the soldier

Gunboats The soldiers won the battle against the demomen killing 6.406.065 of them while  6.372.979 of themselves were killed. As a result, he is awarded with "The Gunboats", war-boots, which reduce the damage you take, when you attempt to rocket jump. As a downside, you will have to leave your shotgun at home.

New maps

Valve included two new maps in the update: cp_gore and ctf_doublecross. cp_gore is an attack/defend map with 2 capture points. It follows the alpine style and promises a fast gaming experience interesting to both public and competitive play.

ctf_doublecross is kept in the night-style and consists of one "main-path" for the most fights and some additional sideways to make some stealth capturing attempts.

Class refinements

Aside from the the feature above, the scout and the spy received some minor tweaks to their game-play: The spy is now carrying the weapons of the person he disguises as. Moreover, the camera beard has been transferred to the misc slot, so you can equip it together with a hat.
The scout received another nerf of the sandman, the stun only works on far distances, if you get hit on mid- to close range, you will be put into "flee mode" where you still are able to move.

In order to omit nothing, here is the complete list of changes included in the update. As Valve puts it: "Enough reading, go play!"

  • The Sandman now only stuns on a max range hit (when you hear the cheering)
  • All shorter hits now force the enemy into the thirdperson fleeing state (also removed the damage reduction on them)

Minor changes
  • Added new options to the Multiplayer->Advanced dialog:
    • Combat text, which displays damage amounts you do to enemies.
    • Medic auto caller, which automatically shows you nearby friends at low health.
    • Heal target marker, which better highlights the target your medigun is locked onto.
    • Alternative Spy disguise menu, which lets you choose disguises using just the 1-3 keys.
  • Fixed being able to affect friendly pipes with airblast (they would unstick)
  • Added recharge sound to abilities with a recharge bar
  • Fixed attachable wearables not staying on ragdolls
  • Players no longer see the wearables that are a part of a friendly spy's disguise, fixing various graphical glitches
  • Added jiggle bones for Pyro's chicken hat
  • Added 2 new game startup songs

Community Mapmaker requests
  • Implemented InputSetSetupTime() for team_round_timer (was in the .fgd but never implemented)
  • Added "SetDispenserLevel" input to cart dispenser (1, 2, or 3)
