New TF2 Update / Pyro Class gets more balanced
Written by chrizz and translated by azureguy on 30.07.2008 Time 02:37
Valve released a new Update for Team Fortress 2. The Kritzkrieg now works on No Crits-Servers, and players who killed themselves (like a Demoman being killed by himself through his own stickys) now give the last enemy player who damages them a point. Also, the popular exploit which allowed shooting rockets and grenades through walls has been fixed.
The most notable change in the update is the Backburner of the Pyro: The additional 50 HP has been removed. This change has been made due to criticism by the community about the unfair HP boost of the Pyro. The only thing left for the Backburner is his "Fire in the back" crit bonus.
See also the official changelog:
[quote]
- Fixed team switches on Attack/Defense maps spamming the console
- Fixed the Kritzkrieg not working on servers with crits turned off
- Fixed some clipped localized strings in various in-game dialogs
- Fixed several cases where files were synchronously loaded while the game was running
- Fixed a shutdown crash in the material system
- Cached rendering of item model panels to improve performance, in particular while weapon selection was visible
- Added a gear symbol behind the health bar for Engineer buildings, in both target IDs and freeze panels
- Players killing themselves will now give a kill credit to the last enemy who damaged them
- Fixed grenades, rockets, and flamethrower being able to fire through grates at round starts
- Fixed players being killed and creating ragdolls during team switches
- Fixed various exploits and performance problems in CP_Badlands, CP_Well, and CP_Fastlane
- Removed health bonus from the Backburner
