TF2 Update February 2, 2012
Written by KamiKatze and translated by Der Feine Herr on 03.02.2012 Time 00:13
Valve released on the night to Friday an update as usual: with bugfixes and new items. The new iitems are the Conquistador for the soldier, which came directly out of the Steam Workshop; and the Map Maker's Medallion, that we discussed already in our last Updatenews. Above all, there are once again new promo items for preorders for Jagged Alliance - Back in Action: Bushman's Boonie, Battle Bob and Merc Medal.
Items Toggle View
Battle Bob

Simple and elegant, this slimming hair helmet will bring out the natural contours of your fearsome war face.
Conquistador

Make Spanish history come alive with this authentic conquistador's helmet, excavated from the actual grave of a sixteenth century French cosplayer.
Bushman's Boonie

Everybody knows that the head part of your body needs twice as much camouflage as all the other parts. Ask anyone in the army and they’ll kill you and hide the body, because that widely-known information is CLASSIFIED.
Merc Medal

There exists an agency so secret that only three people on the planet even know of its existence. This is the medal they give each other when one of them does a great job.
Map Maker's Medaillion

Beside that, a new crate has been added as well(although not documented), Crate #38. It contains 2 new hats and the following weapons in Strange Quality: Quick Fix, Dead Ringer, Killing Gloves of Boxing and SMG.
Nonetheless, Valve did whole lot of bugfixing, too. Among others, they solved minor problems on the map cp_Foundry. Besides smaller texture errors and nobuild exploits(Engineers can build on places where it should not be possible), the bug that players could capture the final CP while standing outside the cap area on the catwalk behind it.
Further fixes concern some items. All colours should work properly now with Max's Severed Hat. Crashes while hitting fixed objects with the Holiday Punch should be a thing of the past. Eventually, the Itsy Bitsy Spyer is now available for the Sniper as well.
Here the full changelog:
Source Engine Changes (TF2, DoD:S, HL2:DM)
- Adjusted error messages on servers when players drop due to Steam authentication failure to be more clear
- Additional important server messages now go to the server log instead of just the console
Team Fortress 2
- Added The Conquistador
- Added The Map Maker's Medallion
- Added new promotional items
- Added information about item origins to the WebAPI
- Added "DamagedPlayer" animation event for the HUD, fired when the local player damages other players
- Fixed The Head Warmer not displaying unusual particle effects correctly
- Fixed paint applying incorrectly on Max's Severed Head
- Fixed a server crash caused by Holiday Punch critical attacks on physics objects
- Updated the Itsy Bitsy Spyer so it can also be equipped by the Sniper
Updated cp_foundry:
- Clip brush collision smoothing by the forward spawn alternate exit
- Fixed Nobuild exploits
- Fixed the teleporter player trap on the roof of the forward spawn alternate exit
- Fixed Nodraw and texturing errors
- Fixed clipping of barrels on final cap points
- Fixed fade distance on props
- Fixed lighting bugs in spytech vistas
- Removed props hidden in geometry
- Removed ability for players to cap the final point by standing on the catwalk behind it
Undocumented Changes:
- added Crate #38
It seems that nobody knows yet anything about the "DamagedPlayer" animation for the HUD. I could not find anything suspicious during a small round in TF2. We will definitely inform you as fast as possible.
So now enjoy the update and have a nice weekend!
