Wheatley (Portal 2) meets TF2 + Promo Item Update
Written by KamiKatze and translated by Der Feine Herr on 13.03.2013 Time 09:48

Wheatley, originally a personality centrepiece for GLaDOS from Portals 2 is now availabe as a Spy Sapper in Team Fortress 2 -  assumed that you own the What's in the Portal 2 Soundtrack Box?.

This box has been opened with the update from last night and all the owners should find the talking Sapper "Ap-Sap" in Genuine quality in their backpack.

Next to the Sapper, a couple of other Promo items have been implemented as well. The  Wilson Weave and the Ham Shank are the reward for preordering the survival game "Don't Starve". The other items are most likely taken from the soon to be released sequel for Poker Night At the Inventory. Telltale Games had announced to bring a second part in 2013.

    • Ham Shank

This makeshift classic is a prison staple. Simply take any common, everyday prison item, like a toothbrush or ham, whittle it to a point, and use it to shiv snitches waiting in line at the commissary for a second helping of ham and toothbrushes.

    • Wilson Weave

Hear ye, hear ye! Re-enact famous moments in barber history with this tricorn hat of hair!

    • Necronomicrown

Like all identical twins, you were born from a cyst in your sibling's neck, grew into an evil head, and eventually sloughed off your twin in your own exact duplicate body. Now you can't tell each other apart! Take out the guesswork with this identifying demonic skullcap.

    • Bloodhound

Experience the vicarious thrill of the tough-talking, dame-seducing gumshoe by reading the collected works of Raymond Chandler. Then take a break from all that and try on this novelty-sized cartoon dog hat.

    • Long Fall Loafers

These curved titanium shock-absorbers connect to the base of your spine and run down the inside of both legs. Now when you fall from a great height, the agony of impact will be absorbed, then conveniently redistributed to your whole pain-wracked body.

    • Samson Skewer

The handle of this hand-forged survival knife is crammed with all of the things you'll need to survive in the wilderness, i.e. a pack of matches and three raisins.

    • Dapper Disguise

Go incognito as a handsome man and enjoy the secret benefits of the exceptionally attractive. High-paying jobs! Erotic encounters! Free bread sticks at the Olive Garden! Eat as many as you can, though, because eventually the mask will rot off, leaving you uglier than before.

    • Ap-Sap

Mann Co. got a great deal from a nice lady in an abandoned science facility on a warehouse full of slightly used, possibly mildly defective sappers. Unlike our other sappers, the Ap-Sap is sentient, and will provide hours of lively, one-sided conversation while you're trying to work.

    • Strange Part: Long-Distance Kills

Adding this Strange Part to a Strange-quality weapon will enable it to track the number of enemies you kill with that weapon from far away.

    • Strange Part: Tanks Destroyed

Adding this Strange Part to a Strange-quality weapon of your choice will enable it to track the number of invading Tanks you destroy with it in Mann-vs-Machine games.

    • Strange Part: Medics Killed

Adding this Strange Part to a Strange-quality weapon will enable it to track the number of Medics you kill with that weapon.

    • Strange Bacon Grease

Use this on a Frying Pan to make it track the number of enemies you kill with it. Normal Frying Pans will be upgraded to Strange quality.

    • Mann Co. Painting Set

This Do-It-Yourself Mann Co. painting set comes with samples of a few different colors that are, legally-speaking, absolutely, definitely not giving off toxic fumes.

    • Mann Co. Supply Crate Series #57

Weapons obtained from this crate will have the Strange quality.

You need a Mann Co. Supply Crate Key to open this.
You can pick one up at the Mann Co. Store.

    • Mann Co. Supply Crate Series #56

      • Fire Axe
      • Flying Guillotine
      • Beggar's Bazooka
      • Strange Part: Medics Killed
      • Strange Part: Tanks Destroyed
      • Strange Part: Long-Distance Kills
      • Western Wear
      • Modest Pile of Hat
      • or an Exceedingly Rare Special Item!

    • Salvaged Mann Co. Supply Crate #50

      • Construction PDA
      • Original
      • Invis Watch
      • Splendid Screen

Moreover, there are new Strange Parts and Crates, among others the Salvaged Crate #50, that contains the Strange Bacon Grease. The Grease can be used to craft the  Frying Pan in Strange quality. The crates #40, #49 und #54 do not drop anymore, though older ones remain in the Backpack.

And then there is the Mann Co. Painting Set, a tool that is purchasable from the Mann Co. Shop. It gives you two or more random paint buckets for dying your weapons. If the tool is worth the money in contrast of buying the wanted colours directly, is left to your personal taste ;-)
